Racing Performance
They say that early speed is natural speed, and Southwind Breeze was a natural!
He won his 2 YO qualifier at the Meadowlands by over 6 lengths in 1:57.4, then
proceeded to win his first lifetime start in a New York Sired and Foaled Stake
at Tioga Downs over such good trotters as Hitwiththeladies T, 2, 1:59; 3, 1:54.4S
($435,877) by almost 10 lengths! Southwind Breeze then set a track record of 1:58.3F
in his second lifetime start in a $53,601 NYSS at Tioga, trotting right to the front
in :28 flat and coasting home on top by 3 ½ lengths. Later in his 2 YO year, Southwind
Breeze was a fast-closing third in the International Stallion Stake at the Red Mile,
trotting his individually-timed last quarter in :27 flat! A nagging knee injury limited
his racing career, but he showed the type of natural trotting ability and 2 YO speed
required for a top trotting stallion in today’s market.
Pedigree
Southwind Breeze is by Conway Hall, from one of the most dominant sire lines of all time!
Not only is Conway Hall one of the perennial trotting sire leaders, along with his brothers Angus Halland Andover Hall, Conway Hall's first two sons to enter the stud, Windsong's Legacy and Broadway Hall,
were the 3rd and 4th leading sires of 2 YO money-winning trotters in the world from their very
first crops in 2008 and have continued their great production in 2009! Southwind Breeze’s dam was the very fast Valley Victory daughter Believe In Victory
T, 3, 1:56. This beautiful mare was a $260,000 yearling and is a ¾ blood sister to the greatest
trotting stallion in Illinois harness racing history, Valley Victor!
Conformation
Southwind Breeze is an eye-catching, well-muscled, long-barreled horse with great substance of bone,
correct feet and legs, and a sharp head. His great conformation allowed him to trot fast and early.
Only an early knee injury kept him from a lengthy racing career. Southwind Breeze's first crop of babies in 2009 show the same type of long-barreled conformation and great gait as their sire, and his second crop in 2010 will include half brothers and sisters to top trotters like Maxter T, 3, 1:55.1 ($419,055), Arcola T, 3, 1:55.3 ($410,695) and Welchkin T, 3, 1:55.1 ($43,391).
